I am very excited that the FTC will hold a Child Identity Theft Forum
on July 12, 2011 in conjunction with the Department of Justice.  I
predict his is the first of many forums on child identity theft.  I’m
glad to see the FTC leading the charge.

According to an FTC Congressional testimony on May 4, 2011, “The goal
of this forum is to develop ways to effectively advise parents on how
to avoid child identity theft, how to protect children’s personal
data, and how to help parents and young adults who are victimized as
children recover from the crime.”  Here is a link to the official website of the forum http://ftc.gov/bcp/workshops/stolenfutures/.

I have been invited to speak at the forum on some startling new
research from CyLab Carnegie Melon and its implications.  More
information to come soon.
